Charles Lewton-Brain has just announced the winners of the first annual Lewton-Brain Foldform Award Competition 2012 at the final day of the Center for Metal Arts Fifth Annual Foldform Conference. With so many strong entries, the judges had a lot of discussions about the final choices, and even created an extra Honorable Mention Winner.
First Prize: Rauni Higson with “Undersea Candelabra”
Second Prize: Theresa Nguyen with “Spiritus”
Third Prize: Kaiya Rainbolt with “Quadrant”
Honorable Mention: Grant McCaig with “Pleated Silver Drinking Set on Ebonised Base”
We will be posting the images of the winners here shortly, as we wrap up the conference. The winners can also be seen on our Center for Metal Arts Facebook page. Because there were so many strong candidates, the judges have decided to also post their Jurors’ Choice of top selections, and Sue Lacy has agreed to create a video short of the winners and the Jurors’ Choice. We will be posting that as soon as it is available. Thanks to Rio Grande Jewelry Supplies for sponsoring this inaugural competition with gift certificates, and to Charles Lewton-Brain for some lovely personal additions to the prize. And thank you to the three judges, Tim McCreight, Charles Lewton-Brain, and Ed Mack for their many discussions on the merits of individual entries.
